Keeping It Out of the Landfill: FixIt Clinic Brings Broken Items Back to Life

October 25, 2024

This past weekend, we held another successful FixIt Clinic, with over 38 community members bringing in their broken items for repair! This event marked our fifth clinic. We’re proud of our ongoing effort to reduce waste and encourage repair within our community. Thanks to FUSE Makerspace for hosting us this year, generously providing both the space and skilled coaches who assisted attendees with their repairs.

A huge thank you goes to the dedicated coaches who volunteered their time and expertise. Their skills covered a broad range, from appliances and electronics to bikes, woodworking, sewing, and more. These efforts not only saved numerous items from ending up in the landfill but also equipped attendees with valuable skills to repair and maintain their belongings.

Our FixIt Clinics are driven by a commitment to divert fixable items from the landfill, and thanks to everyone involved—coaches, attendees, and supporters—we achieved this goal once again. Together, we made a meaningful impact on waste reduction and fostered a culture of sustainability in our community.

To everyone who contributed to making this event a success, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We’re excited to continue these efforts in promoting repair, reuse, and waste reduction. Here's to many more successful clinics in the future!
